Poetry 🌸

Today I’m sharing a poem entitled “THE STRENGTH OF A WOMAN” by Naomi Johnson. I have been having a rough time for a couple of weeks now. What I noticed about myself is my mom starts to shine through me. I watched her go through things and always managed to remain calm and strong. I’m the same way although it took me some time to get here.

Thanks be to God for wisdom and strength! Thanks for allowing my mom to show how things should be handled. I love and miss you mom (RIP ❤️). I hope you all enjoy her poem…..

“The strength of a woman is her kindhearted ways
that she forever displays.
It’s her loving confident smile that takes you to the
highest place with the glimpse of determination
shone upon her face.
The strength of a woman is the amazing ability to
withstand pain bring life into this world even if
the man does not want to entertain.
It’s the ability to raise her child on her own when
the man left her all alone to support them until
they are grown.
The strength of a woman is the intrinsic style
to protect like a child without being hostile.
It’s the humble heart she shows
that warms a soul when your spirits feeling low.
The strength of a woman knows how to restrain her
tongue when insults are being flung.
It’s the lovely expression she conveys with the eyes
and respect for herself…she does not denies.
The strength of a woman is the devoted traits
she has standing by her man side when problems
arise.
It’s her inspirational words she gives her mate
making him feel oh so great.
The strength of a woman is her gentle touch
you love so much.
It’s her loyal love to one guy she continues to create
without being irate.
The strength of a woman is her intellectual mind,
oh so chic with the words she speaks.
It’s the versatile
qualities she uses without spirit of guile.
The strength of a woman is learning how to love
when she has been hurt over again without
committing a sin.
The strength of a woman is not her traditional love
she has to live on, it’s her unconditional spiritual love
that has not yet gone.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My mom lost her battle to breast cancer 7-4-99. That time of the year is always a difficult time as her birthday is right before that time. I have wrote about my mom’s battle with breast cancer. Throughout it all she still managed to spend time with her grandkids and help me through some tough situations I was facing. She taught me how to remain calm, positive and face things. She was a strong woman. I miss her so much.

Every day of the year is Breast Cancer Awareness for my family and I. Sending prayers and support to all those going through, and admiration to all the survivors! Prayers and condolences to all those who have lost their battle. Praying for a cure. Keep hope.

Weekend Fun and Memories of My Parents

This is our first 4th of July without my dad here on earth and it is also the day my mom lost her battle to breast cancer. RIP Mom…missing you and dad.

My dad made the best, I mean Fire BBQ! He had his “secret sauce” that he taught me how to make before he passed away. Today he would usually be grilling.

Today we are celebrating the holiday and both of my parents memories with family. Lots of food, drink, fireworks and catching up with family!

You all have a safe and fun 4th of July! I can’t wait to watch the fireworks show later tonight!

Mental Health Awareness

My mom suffered from some form of depression and anxiety attacks. She was schizophrenic and I watched her as a child raise me and my brothers while trying to cope and deal with her own struggles. She still was an excellent mother to us, although there were times I seen her breaking down crying and scared to drive her car.

Now as an adult sometimes I go through my periods of depression and anxiety. But I don’t take any medications like my mom, I get my Bible and I read. I also have my positive hobbies and things I love doing that helps me. My kids also keeps me motivated and helps me stay focused. I try to stay away from anyone or persons that has helped to trigger some of my depression and anxiety. Going through life can be rough but we have to work hard to keep our minds healthy. I know I do. There were things I had to help my mom with when I was younger and also as a teen. I constantly used to remind her that things would be ok. We would be alright. And before she passed, it was like she waited to hear that from me before she took her last breath. I had let her know that the kids and I would be ok. That the family would be ok. She could go be with God.

Those of you that are out there going through things just know you are not alone. Even if it seem like it in your mind. Prayers going up for you.

My Younger Days….Thinking Back

To reminisce with my old friends, a chance to share some memories, and play our songs again.

I love to reminisce about my younger days, when I was younger and carefree. Those good memories with my mom, talking, listening to old records and her telling me stories about her youth. Hearing funny things about my family was some of my best times with her.

Now to this day one of my favorite cousins Paula and I have a glass of wine and chill out listening to music. We talk about any and everything from our kids, families, and our personal and any life things. I love, love our girl time reminiscing.

Cancer Survivor!!!!

I received this wonderful email from Mrs. Heather Von St. James. Her touching story brought me to tears and smiles, because God is so good! I couldn’t wait to share this with you all. I Thank You and your family Heather for picking my blog to share your Inspirational story. You are a strong woman……….

Hi there!

The reason I have reached out to you is because of your blog! I am 44 and a mother to a quirky little 7 year old, Lily. She is my only child, and my whole world. When Lily was just 3 1/2 months old, I was diagnosed with mesothelioma; a type of cancer that kills most people within 2 years. As I’m sure you can imagine, the first thing that came to mind when I was diagnosed was my baby girl and how I wasn’t going to be able to watch her grow up.

After intense treatment and recovery, I’m still here 7 years later and cancer free! My journey with cancer was a terrifying one and I’d like to turn my pain into purpose and become someone that other people can look to for guidance, inspiration, and hope in situations like my own. My husband and I recently participated in a short video about my experience with cancer and I contacted you because I feel that your blog would be an excellent place to share. I’m hoping to use this video as a tool to raise awareness of this horrible little known cancer that is such a deadly killer (and sadly, 100% preventable).

I would love it if you would be willing to share my video on your blog with your readers. Here is the link to my video: http://www.mesothelioma.com/heather

Let me know what you think!

Hot Mom of 5!!!! And Proud of it!

“There’s a lot more to being a woman than being a mother, but there’s a hell a lot more to being a mother than most people suspect”  Roseanne Barr

Yes I Said HOT!!! Well let me begin, I am mom to 3 girls ages 18,11,7 and 2 boys ages 14,16. So as you can see I have just about all of the adolescent stages….lol. Well I’m out of the infant and toddler stages for now. I love my big family although it is not easy. My sons play sports. My oldest dude O plays basketball. My young one Tarie (T-Nice 25) plays football. They are doing well in school also. My rule is if grades aren’t good then NO SPORTS!

Now my girls…Mommy’s Divas are doing a lot of things as well. They are doing some modeling. My oldest (we call her B) is working and graduating high school this year. We had a tough time with her, but by the grace of God, she is back on track. My Princess Allyssa is in special ed. for Speech and Language. My princess is very well organized, neat, and knows sign language. Which we use around the house and out if needed. Her speech has drastically improved being she receives excellent education from the staff at her school. She is kind, sweet and always helps me around the house. My Princess is has taught me that although she have a disability, she is going to be fine. I treat all of my kids the same and Princess knows this. In my house my kids are taught to look after each other.

Now my baby girl…My Buttercups Nyann! My Buttercups is very gifted and smart. She is in 2nd grade but during testing in 1st grade her test results put her the end of 2nd grade. She has a funny sense of humor (like me :)) Yes I am funny as well. But my Buttercups say things and we will be wherever laughing out loud at her! At school she is very popular and sometimes the teacher let her be teacher in class. She have a way of motivating and talking to her peers that make them listen to her. Her teacher always have great things to say about her. Around the house we call her “Boss Lady”. Her people skills even works with our family.

As far as me…Hot mom! Well I have a full plate for myself between college, work, and sporting events, their school stuff, church, this list could go on and on. I haven’t begun to tell you how I manage and schedule doctors, dentist, and orthodontist appointments. That is another blog topic…lol. Which I will be touching on soon. But you know I really give all my Thanks to God. Ones close to me know I have been through a lot period. He is who keeps me going and give me strength to do all I have and am doing. Thank You all for stopping by to check me out! Peace
