L.I.C Second Annual Gathering

Labor day weekend started preparations for LIC’s second picnic. L.I.C which is short for Lovelies in Cali! The weather was beautiful, hot and sunny on Sunday. It was a perfect day for all of us to gather together with friends and have a lot of fun! We also had plenty of food from grilled salmon, baked potatoes, chicken, ribs, chicken links, macaroni, greens, rice, baked beans, fruits, chips and other selections. There was plenty of water, beverages, and alcohol. The music was going, spades games going up, people joking, laughing, taking pictures, selfies, hugs and great conversations! Some of us brought our kids. This was an all around awesome event, and we even met some new people who were invited. Here are some photos of our celebration

Thanksgiving

My holiday weekend started off well! Monday after I passed my exam that was the start of my vacation from class. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday between appointments and work getting prepared for cooking and shopping with my family. We were able to get caught up on some movies and tv shows.

Thanksgiving day I was up early cooking with my holiday music blasting. We spent the day home relaxing, eating good food. I’m grateful to be able to enjoy the holidays with my kids and family.

Weekend Fun and Memories of My Parents

This is our first 4th of July without my dad here on earth and it is also the day my mom lost her battle to breast cancer. RIP Mom…missing you and dad.

My dad made the best, I mean Fire BBQ! He had his “secret sauce” that he taught me how to make before he passed away. Today he would usually be grilling.

Today we are celebrating the holiday and both of my parents memories with family. Lots of food, drink, fireworks and catching up with family!

You all have a safe and fun 4th of July! I can’t wait to watch the fireworks show later tonight!

20131221-102813.jpg
Spending the last weekend before Christmas shopping with my family, and can’t decide exactly what to buy a couple of them. Too many ideas to choose from. It really have you thinking, just how well do you know things about them, lol. Well I’m sure I will pick them something that they will love! With that in mind you all have a safe and great weekend. I’m going to finish enjoying mines. Also send special prayers up for my dad. He is very ill and it’s been difficult on us all. Love you daddy….

Warm thoughts and best wishes to you and your family this Thanksgiving. May you continue to have many blessings and many reasons to be thankful in the coming year.

I’m thankful to be able to spend this day with my family and enjoy delicious food! My menu consisted of: Marinated Lemon-Pepper Baked Turkey, Great White Northern Beans, Rice, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, CornBread, Salad and for dessert made by Monique of MoSweettreats Peach Cobbler, and Sweet Potato Pound Cake! I was up early wednesday cooking till late. So I’m relaxing now and getting a little rest. Thanks for stopping by and God Bless.

Getting Ready For The Holidays

It’s that time of the year again to start getting ready for the Holidays. I will be cooking, as I always do.

To get ready for Thanksgiving, you may want to stock up on paper goods such as napkins, nice quality sturdy paper plates and cups, and cutlery to use with them. If you get them ahead of time, you will have one less thing to have to deal with. Check the shopping ads for sales early and use coupons. I buy my Turkeys’ as early as possible and put in my deep freezer until time to thaw. Get a head count ahead of time also and try to determine if any of your guests or family will be staying overnight. I look forward to having family come and visit or even staying overnight. Especially one of my favorite cousins, lol! Normally we go shopping Black Friday and enjoy getting ready for Christmas.

Getting ready for Christmas, make sure to buy wrapping paper and gift cards as early as possible. This way you can get your cards addressed and mailed out to avoid any delays with the holiday rush. I like wrap my gifts as I buy them. This is why I like to have my wrapping paper early. That way, you can have a relaxing time during the holidays and not be stuck out in the malls during the Christmas shopping rush! What better way to make your holidays less stressful than by being prepared and planning ahead?
