My experience of learning with my teenagers…

What causes adolescents to rebel is not the assertion of authority but the arbitrary use of power, with little explanation of the rules and no involvement in decision-making… Involving the adolescent in decisions doesn’t mean that you are giving up your authority. It means acknowledging that the teenager is growing up and has the right to participate in decisions that affect his or her life.

I am working on parenting my 3 teenagers in a different way. It has been hard because in my eyes they are still “my babies”. But I realize they are getting older and so I have begun to let them participate in decisions that will affect them in areas of their life. Out of my 5 children, my 3 teens ages are 14, 16, and 19. At times it’s hard to believe that we have a grown daughter now. Whew! Time sure does fly by us. I would love to hear some advice from any parents that’s reading that have teenagers. Thanks for stopping by…
